Transition into Reception Class


Here at Pips Bach, transition doesn't happen in one is ongoing throughout our time at pre-school.


From our very first day, we are integrated into school life. We see and interact with our reception teacher and support staff on a regular basis. We visit all areas of the school, meeting many members of our close knit school team, such as office and kitchen staff. We utilise many areas of the school, the hall, the library and the outside play areas.


During our last term before moving up, our transition becomes more formal, Both the reception teacher, and her support assistant regularly visit us to read stories and play. We spend time in the reception class with our new teachers, we familiarise ourselves with the new routine, and are able to practise what we will be doing in school, such as our morning routine for coming into school.


When they leave us our Pips are confident and excited to start their "big" school journey.

If you would like to book a visit with your child to come and meet staff and have a wander round the classroom, please just call the school office so we can make a mutually convenient appointment. 


Sessions start at 9 am and run to 11:30 am Monday - Thursday. Please come to the main entrance, where we will meet you and take your child into class. If you are late, please report to reception where they will call us to collect you.

Your child will need a spare set of clothes, a healthy snack and a drink.
