Our new curriculum is designed to support children and young people to develop the skills they need to make the most of life.

Four Purposes

At the core of all our work are the Four Purposes, which guide and inspire our curriculum design. Each purpose in Ysgol Cefnllys is represented by a character, created specifically by and with our pupils.

 Ambitious Aurora - Ambitious, capable learners ready to learn throughout their lives. 

 Enterprising Edward - Enterprising, creative contributors, ready to play a full part in life                                                                        and work. 

 Ethical Ethel - Ethical, informed citizens of Wales and the world

 Healthy Hugo – Healthy, confident individuals, ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued                                                                   members of society. 

The Six Areas of Learning and Experience (A.O.L.E.):
  • Expressive Arts: This area includes the disciplines of art, dance, drama, film, digital media, and music. 

  • Health and Well-being: This area focusses on physical health, mental health, emotional well-being, and social well-being. 

  • Humanities: This area encompasses history, religion, values, ethics, business studies, and social studies. 

  • Languages, Literacy and Communication: This area aims to develop skills and knowledge in Welsh, English, and other international languages and literature. 

  • Mathematics and Numeracy: This area focusses on developing mathematical resilience and numeracy skills. 

  • Science and Technology: This area explores developments in science and technology that drive change in society, impacting economic, cultural, and environmental aspects of life.
